Ealdspell
'Ealdspell' is an Anglo-Saxon word referencing the never-ending chain of sagas that made up their mythology. This exhibition will showcase many intersectional perspectives, and contribute to this country's diverse and ever evolving ealdspell. As well as art, there will be performances, workshops and a DJ and bar.
Gothic and Ghostly: Art of the Macabre
This October, in a nod to York's renowned reputation as a haunted city and the spectral spirit of the Halloween season, Stephenson's Gallery presents 'Gothic & Ghostly: Art of the Macabre'. This atmospheric and hauntingly beautiful exhibition delves into the shadows of the human imagination, offering a captivating experience for those who find beauty in the mysterious and poetry in the unsettling. We have delved into our Northern and Eastern European collections to curate a journey across a spectrum of the macabre, from the psychological to the folkloric, the surreal to the visceral. The show features an extraordinary selection of paintings, sculptures, and drawings that draw inspiration from the uncanny, ghostly tales, and the sublime terror of the unknown. This is an exploration of what haunts us, in our minds, our bodies, and our landscapes. The exhibition brings together four unique artistic voices:
Romanian surrealist Adrian Paiu constructs quiet, metaphysical dreamscapes where the laws of reality dissolve, revealing the unsettling depths of the subconscious.
Drawing from the brooding heritage of his native Yorkshire, Anthony Hodgson channels the spirit of literary Gothicism into intense works that explore the eternal conflict between damnation and redemption.
Scarborough artist Andrew Cheetham captures the ghosts of industrial heritage and the haunting grandeur of the North Yorkshire coast, his atmospheric works evoking the melancholic beauty of decay.
Fusing the raw energy of street art with visceral expressionism, Slovakian painter Miloš Hronec confronts the inner demons of the human condition, his distorted figures exposing the macabre nature of psychological suffering.
Join us, if you dare, as we navigate the shadows and celebrate the profound, eerie beauty of the macabre in art. 'Gothic & Ghostly' is a must-see attraction for tourists and locals alike looking to immerse themselves in the true spirit of the Halloween season.

Transcendence
Transcendence | First Edition | Opening on Friday, 13th of December from 6pm to 9pm at our gallery space from Tower Bridge district.
Boomer Gallery, 150 Tooley Street, SE1 2TU, London.
Everyone is welcome.
Will future generations grasp the depth of our love, the transformations we undergo, and the mysteries we conceal just beneath the surface?
Passion, conflict, love- a potent fusion lies hidden within canvases, photographs, sculptures, and countless other mediums. These emotions, often delicately woven into each piece, form a landscape that is both intensely personal, profoundly universal, and transcendent. Each work serves as a doorway to the artist’s soul, embodying unspoken struggles and quiet triumphs.
The emergence of art and the artist’s inner world has captivated humanity for millennia. What unseen processes lie behind the mystery of creation? This journey of transcendence, from thought to tangible form, mirrors the rhythm of the seasons. Each stage, like spring’s awakening or autumn’s surrender, holds its own energy and emotion, evolving from conception to completion, as complex and layered as life itself.
With this exhibition, we invite you to step into our world, a space where dreams become reality, where thoughts move from mind to wall, from shadow to spotlight, from bud to bloom, and toward ultimate transcendence.

When Tomorrow’s Ghosts announced they would not be continuing with the Spring Festival, Raychel stepped in. The format and location will remain the same, with the Gothic Market taking place at the Spa Pavillion on the West Cliff as in previous years. The evening’s entertainment however will change. Plans are currently being finalised for a masquerade ball on the Friday evening and a cabaret event on Saturday in the theatre.
As well as this, Raychel will be producing an event newspaper The Gothic Times, which will be a lovely memento of the weekend.
